JC beat STATHS in dramatic penalty shootout to win their 31st Manning Cup

Jamaica College are the 2022 ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup champions after defeating St Andrew Technical High School 8-7 on penalties in the final this evening at Sabina Park.

It was the third time that coach Phillip Williams and STATHS were falling to Jamaica College in a Manning Cup final via the penalty shootout route. JC were also victorious in the 2017 and 2019 finals.

For JC, it only took a year for them to rule schoolboy football again after being edged out by KC last season.

This time around, JC - the winningest school in the Manning Cup history – secured title number 31.

In regulation time, Jaheem Frazer handed the ‘Dark Blues’ the lead in the 27th minute and Shakeone Satchell equalized for STATHS in the 57th minute.

JC had their first penalty saved by goalkeeper Jaheem Williams, giving STATHS a chance to win it with the last kick of regulation penalties but Namar Nelson shot high and wide, sending the affair into sudden death.

STATHS missed their kick in the ninth round for JC to win their 31st title.
