Former national Under-17 coach Davion Ferguson is the new voice shouting football instructions at Jamaica College following the resignation of Andrew Peart after only one year in charge. Peart had taken over the reins at JC for the 2018-19 season following the departure of former head coach Miguel Coley.
I will do everything in my power to make the players better, the school better and all supporters of Jamaica College proud. ~Davion Ferguson
Ferguson, who is described in some circles as a student of the game and one of the top young coaches in the region, is certainly not young in experience, having plied his trade at Hydel High and G C Foster College and has also done some work with the National Under-15, Under-17 and Under-20 male and female teams.
He also had stints with St Jago High and Harbour View youth programme and outside of football, was an educator at the Aretha Willie-led George Headley Primary.
Peart who served for three years as assistant coach to Coley before taking over at JC, is still the head coach of Red Stripe Premier League team UWI FC.
JC needed the full time attention of a coach and Peart decided to stay with UWI FC as juggling both jobs was a struggle.
